This afternoon there was a concern regarding a person passing through the neighborhood that resulted in SLLIS' placing an emergency call. Emergency vehicles arrived at approximately 3:40 pm and detained the individual. Pick-up was delayed for this reason and is resuming now.

Hot summer days, avoid sugary drinks. In health class, middle schoolers conducted different experiments to close up the school year. They mostly enjoyed the one about the level of pH on water. They were thrilled our school water is alkaline with a pH balance of 7.5 or higher!!!

Yesterday, both SLLIS campuses celebrated Black History Month in a fun, academic and interesting ambiance. We welcomed Jahfi Studio which mainly consists of two students from the French Program (Jahja and Sahfi) and a brother supported by their parents. They performed some African and African-American drumming, signings, dances while acting. Students also participated in a writing contest focusing only on two themes: My Hero and Me, You, Us. Their imagination and creativity were impressive! We’d like to thank Jahfi Studio for taking the time and energy to put up a great show for us. We’re happy to have them within our school!

Marine Campus update: It has come to our attention that there was an explosion incident in the vicinity of the Marine Campus. SLLIS has a strong relationship with the local police station and was not notified of any safety threat related to this incident. The school day has continued as scheduled, and all staff and students are safe. We have contacted local police to request more information and will provide updates as necessary.
