Brief Job Description:Executive Assistant

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must embrace the mission of SLLIS
  • Ability to use data in the decision-making process
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various groups and gain consensus related to project implementation and other problem solving
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups (teachers, parents, senior-level administrators and support staff)
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize
  • Willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

BOARD SUPPORT

  • Serves as custodian of records for all SLLIS Board of Directors documents, both hard copy and electronic.
  • Takes minutes at the monthly board meeting in open and closed sessions and distributes in a timely manner.
  • Collects all necessary documentation for the monthly board meeting, compiles the board packet, and sends it to the board in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper documentation of Board Committee minutes.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

  • Fundraising and enrollment support.
  • Complex scheduling and calendar management.
  • Maintains files for all executive documents.
  • Provides required documentation to charter sponsor, UMSL.
  • Maintains documentation for all federal programs for tiered monitoring purposes.
  • Finance:
    • Manage reimbursements
    • Payroll process
    • Credit card authorization process
    • Check requests
    • Prepares invoices for approval

COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT

  • Possesses excellent writing skills
  • “Reach” candidate is bilingual English/Spanish
  • Updates website regularly
  • Monitors social media pages for alignment with communications plan
  • At the direction of the Executive Directors drafts:
    • Letters to the community
    • Newsletters and other staff communications
  • Attends all team and committee meetings with Executive Director and takes minutes, then shares them with appropriate staff in a timely manner.

MANAGEMENT

  • Oversees the inventory, purchase, and organization of textbooks and supplies
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Brief Job Description: Special Education Paraprofessional

Reports to: Director of Learning and Instruction

The Special Education Paraprofessional enhances the instructional programs in our schools. The Paraprofessional is employed to implement academic, behavioral, self-care, safety, and other individualized plans, as prescribed by the special education and general education teachers, in order to meet the needs of students.Responsibilities:

  • Implement teacher-created lessons for individuals or small groups.
  • Escort students safely from place to place within the school setting.
  • Assist students with mobility needs (may involve lifting, toileting, etc.)
  • Assist with appropriate behavior intervention, as directed by teacher/supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information with regards to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Aid in the administration of teacher, District, and state assessments.
  • Implement student accommodations and modifications according to IEPs.
  • Collect data on student progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to meet the holistic needs of assigned students.

Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 60 hours of post-secondary coursework
  • Excellent speaking, reading, writing and math skills (English).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear Criminal Background/Fingerprint Check
  • Valid TB Clearance by the first day of employment.

  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques which are compatible with the physical space limitations and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

Collaboration

  • Is available to students and parents outside the instructional day for education-related purposes when required or requested.
  • In cooperation with the principal and/or area coordinator plans, supervises, and evaluates assigned teacher assistants and/or aides.
  • Notifies parents of children who will receive instruction and discusses the program with them, answering any questions they may have regarding this help.

St. Louis Language Immersion Schools, Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri seeks a full-time Elementary Spanish Immersion Physical Education Teacher to plan language immersion instruction in Physical Education to elementary students grades K-6 appropriate to the abilities and cultural background of students; create and organize classroom rules, procedures, and routines; manage student behavior to ensure student learning; establish a culture of high expectations, diversity, cultural sensitivity, and understanding; establish clear content and language objectives for all lessons, units and projects, providing instruction to special needs students in conjunction with the Special Education Consultant to ensure that IEP student goals are being met; provide differentiated instruction as needed; maintain ongoing communication with students and parents about the student’s level of instruction, academic progress, and/or deficiencies; monitor and evaluate student progress regularly; represent the School and program to district, county, state, and/or federal community groups; interact with outside agencies as necessary; teach Summer classes if needed; and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, or a closely related field. The position requires near-native fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English. Position requires a license to teach in Missouri or other state (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, K-6, or K-8) or ability to teach in the country in which the teacher received his or her training.
